B4 TG LoRaWAN
Thermographic device
B4-TG is an innovative thermographic device, designed for permanent installation.
Equipped with a 24 x 32 sensor, with a 110° aperture, it can monitor 768 temperatures, up to 300°C.
Perfect for permanent monitoring of many functional elements. Some examples:
- Insulation of general-purpose or heating furnaces;
- Elements for thermal processes;
- Electrical panels and electrical devices;
- Any other heat-sensitive part.
Essentially, the B4 TG device can be used for all purposes for which a set of thermometers or thermocouples or a thermal camera is used, with the difference that B4 TG can be permanently installed in the field and operates without contact. This makes it very useful for monitoring moving or rotating parts.
The B4 TG device is an extremely versatile and non-invasive tool that can be used for a wide range of applications.
The ability to "see" heat (infrared radiation) makes B4 TG an essential tool for predictive maintenance, quality control, safety, and process optimization.
Here are the main areas of use for thermal cameras in an industrial plant:
Predictive Maintenance and Fault Detection
- Electrical Systems. This is perhaps the most common application. B4 TG can detect abnormal overheating in electrical panels, transformers, cables, motors, switches, connectors, and distribution boards. A hot spot can indicate a loose connection, an overload, a faulty fuse, a phase imbalance, or a component nearing failure. Intervening before failure prevents costly downtime and potential fires.
- Mechanical Equipment. B4 TG detects overheating in bearings, gears, motors, pumps, couplings, and conveyor belts. A temperature increase can indicate insufficient lubrication, misalignment, wear, or excessive loads.
- Boilers, Furnaces, and Thermal Systems: B4 TG helps monitor the insulation of boilers, furnaces, pipes, and tanks to identify heat leaks, insulation breaches, or slag accumulation areas. This helps improve energy efficiency.
- Steam and Condensate Systems: B4 TG detects steam or condensate leaks from valves, steam traps, and piping, which cause significant energy losses.
Quality Control and Process Monitoring
- Industrial Production. In production lines, B4 TG can monitor the temperature of products during processes such as drying, baking, curing, welding, or cooling. This ensures that products reach desired temperatures for consistent quality.
- Heat Treatments. In the metallurgical or ceramic sectors, B4 TG is used to monitor and control heating and cooling cycles to ensure materials have the desired properties.
- Material Inspection. B4 TG can be used to detect internal defects in composite materials (delaminations, voids, water ingress), solar cells, welds, or for thermal stress analysis during material testing.
Leak and Infiltration Detection
- Plumbing Systems and Piping. B4 TG detects leaks of water or other fluids from buried pipes or those hidden behind walls, by exploiting the temperature difference caused by the leak.
- Roofs and Building Envelopes. In industrial structures, B4 TG can identify water infiltrations on flat roofs or defects in the thermal insulation of walls, which lead to energy dispersion or structural damage.
Safety and Fire Prevention
- Early Fire Detection. B4 TG can be installed in high-risk areas (flammable material storage, rooms with critical equipment) to automatically and promptly detect abnormal temperature increases that could indicate the start of a fire, even before visible smoke or flames appear.
- Electrical Discharge Monitoring. B4 TG can detect partial discharges or electrical arcs, which are precursors to failures and fires.
Research and Development
- B4 TG can be used to analyze the thermal behavior of prototypes, electronic components, and materials during development, providing valuable data for optimizing design and performance.
Key Advantages of Using Thermal Cameras in an Industrial Environment
- Non-invasive. Does not require physical contact with the object, allowing inspection of machinery in operation.
- Fast. Provides an instantaneous thermal image of the entire area, immediately highlighting anomalies.
- Safe. Reduces the need to approach dangerous or high-voltage components.
- Predictive. Allows problems to be identified before they cause failures, reducing unplanned downtime and corrective maintenance costs.
- Energy Efficiency. Helps identify heat losses and inefficiencies, leading to energy cost savings.
In summary, B4 TG is a powerful diagnostic tool for any modern industrial plant aiming to maximize efficiency, safety, and operational continuity.
